#5. 301 redirects for blog posts

301 redirects allow you to redirect a page on your website that no longer exists to a page that does exist. This is important to do because there are other sites out there that may still be linked to this page and you don't want potential visitors to be greeted with a 404 Page Not Found screen.

Weebly has made setting up 301 redirects incredibly easy! By going to "Settings>SEO>301 Redirects", you can simply put in the URL of the page that no longer exists and choose the existent page you want it to redirect to. It's that easy!

One of the downsides to Weebly's 301 redirect feature is that you can not redirect to a blog post. You can redirect a blog post to a standard page, but not the other way around. So for now, if you've moved content from a blog post to a standard page, your blog post's URL will show as 404 Page Not Found until Weebly implements this feature.

Additional Information: You can see which URLs on your site are currently coming up as 404 Page Not Found in Google or Bing Webmaster Tools. From there, you can setup your 301 redirects in Weebly under "Settings>SEO>301 Redirects".

#4. Unpublish individual blog posts

Like Wordpress, Weebly allows you publish individual blog posts without publishing other blog posts or the rest of your site. But unlike Wordpress, Weebly currently doesn't allow you to unpublish individual blog posts.

If you happen to have a blog post on your Weebly site that you need to remove from your live site, the only solution at the moment is to either delete the blog post entirely from your site or superficially hide it with code.

Having the ability to unpublish a blog post can be incredibly useful for updating a blog post without having your visitors witness the construction. Plus, a blog is your journal, and even if you don't want the world to see a specific blog post any longer, the blog post should still exist in your blog for your own satisfaction and reference.

#3. search pages and posts

You have over 200 standard pages on your Weebly site and too many blog posts to count, but how do you efficiently find a specific post or page? At the current moment, the only way to find that specific page or post you need is to sift through the list of your standard pages or, like a visitor to your blog, move through each blog page one at a time.

Finding a specific page or post on your Weebly site would be so much easier if there was a search box at hand. And this feature isn't asking much because it already exists when you create a hyperlink. You select your text, click the hyperlink icon, and then easily search for the page or post you'd like to link to.

#2. Break a "Title" or "Text" element with another element

Let's say you just wrote a 2000 word article using a single "Text" element, but now you've decided you want to put a couple ads in between the paragraphs. What do you do? ​You have to add a new "Text" element, copy the text where you want the ad to appear above, and paste it in your new "Text" element. Now you can add your ad in between the paragraphs, but only at one location. You need to repeat this inefficient step for every ad.

One of the coolest features we think Weebly 5 could bring to the table is the ability to break up a single "Text" element by dragging and dropping another element in between the paragraphs of that single "Text" element. Thus your initial "Text" element becomes 2 "Text" elements and now you've got an ad in between.

#1. Theme store

Yes, a theme store is at the top of everybody's wish list for Weebly 5, Weebly 4, Weebly 3 -- it's a feature that should have existed in the first generation of Weebly.

Weebly innovatively introduced its App Center with the introduction of Weebly 3 (i.e., Carbon) in October of 2015 and it's been a big success! With these apps, Weebly users, like Wordpress users, can further customize their site without having to hire a Weebly developer or risk dismantling a website by touching code, but what about themes?

If you know Weebly's theme story, they don't have many, introduce a max of 3 new themes just once a year -- if we're lucky -- and the designs of their themes are rather stale and just not exciting. Weebly could easily solve this issue, and they know it too, by creating a theme store where Weebly theme developers could make their themes available for Weebly users to use right from the Weebly platform.
